KOLLI Lyrics: Omar Khayyam, ( english translation Karim Emami )
Medi:
Come,my friend,let’s forget the cares of tomorrow
And instead enjoy this moment of our life.
The caravan of life is fast on the march;
Seize your moment of fun,for it is a carnival.
Oh saki, why worry what our companions may do?
Set forth the cups,for the night is on the march too.
A last gasp remains in me thanks to the saki’s cara;
And infidelity is all that remains in people.
A mere cup remains from last nigh’s wine.
And what remains of my life, i do not know.
The caravan of life is fast on the march
Seize your moment of fun, for it is a carnival.
Oh saki, why worry what our companions may do?
Set forth the cups,for the night is on the march too.
We shall long be gone,while the world will go on.
Nawar:
Drink wine!
You shall sleep under the ground forever alone,
without friend, companion, confidant or spouse.
Oh God! is this thirst satisfying you?
Tell me who is free of sin?

THE GREAT BLUE WHEEL
Lyrics: Omar Khayyam, ( english translation Karim Emami )
How long should i worry whether i have or have not;
Whether i am spending my life happily or not,
Come fill the bowl of wine for i know not
Whether i will be able to exhale the breath i am inhaling now.
As my entrance was not by choice on the first day
This involuntary exit is a correct resolve;
Get up and gird your loins, oh quick-footed saki
For i am going to wash down my sorrows.
When i die do not mark my grave
Circulate my story instead;
Then mix with wine my body’s dust;
To make bricks for the top of a wine vat.
Each Spring hold tulip-fashion a bowl of wine,
With a tulip-cheeked companion if you can.
Drink merrily for the Great Blue Wheel
All of a sudden will turn you flat on your back!

Tahere

Lyrics: Poem by Táhirih Qurrat al-‘Ayn
We have no translation of this poem.
«Tahireh was born 200 years ago in Iran in a very old culture, believes and tradition. She was a passionated human who dared, in that hard time, to write and talk about her own believes, for this she paid the price and got killed. In my understanding she has, with her poems, made life softer for herself in that rough time and she dared to analyse herself honestly. In this poem I can see longing for understanding of existence in the form of a lovely choice of words, full of melody. In respect of her life and her deep understanding, I love to perform her lovely poem » - Medi Farmani.

MUSCA DOMESTICA
Lyrics: Omar Khayyam, ( english translation Karim Emami )
Medi:
As a child i studied with a master for a while;
Then i became proud of my own mastery.
Do you want to hear what happened to me at the end?
I rose in the world like water,then like wind i departed.
There was once a drop of water;it joined the sea.
There was once a speck of dust;it regained the earth.
What’s the significance of your entrance and exit from this world?
No more than the appearance and disappearance of a housefly.
My boon companions have all been lost,
Falling prey one by one to the angel of death;
We all drank from the same wine in life’s carousel;
They became inebriated one or two rounds earlier.
My entrance has been of no benefit to this world;
Nor will my exit add to its splendor. ,
What benefit from our entrance and exit?
Where is a single weft left from the warps of our life?
Many brave souls are caught in this cruel wheel,
Their life burning and turning to ash whiteout smoke!
Nawar:
Life does not give what we hope for
Everything we do in despair because
Eternity won't give us what we seek... and all will be gone
Sanctify love until you get drunk, sanctify wine, and don't care.

MOONBEAMS
Lyrics: Nima Yooshij - ( translation from peomhunter.com )
and Omar Khayyam - ( english translation Karim Emami )
The moon beams
the glowworm glows
sleep is seldom ruined, but
worry over this heedless lot
ruins sleep in my tearful eyes.
Dawn stands worried at my side
morning urges me to announce
its arrival to the lot.
alas! a thorn inside,
stops me in my tracks.
A delicate rose stem
which I planted with my hands
and watered with my life
its thorns break inside me.
I fumble about to open a door
uselessly expecting someone to meet
a jumble of walls and doors
crumbles over my head.
The moon beams
the glowworm glows
blisters marking a distant road
Standing before the village
a single man
knapsack on his back, hand on the knocker, murmurs
"Worry over this lot
ruins sleep in my tearful eyes.»

Seven Thousand Years
Lyrics: Omar Khayyam, ( english translation Karim Emami )
Come,my friend,let’s forget the cares of tomorrow
And instead enjoy this moment of our life;
For tomorrow when we have left this ancient abode
We shall be equal to all the seven thousand years olds!
Alas! the journal of my youth has all been subscribed,
And the fresh greenness of my life has become grey winter;
As for the state people call youth.......
I don’t remember how it arrived or when it ended.
Alas! we have been worn out in vain,
Falling victim to Heaven’s upside-down sickle.
Woe and woe! For in a twinkling of an eye
We were annihilated, our hopes unfulfilled.
Alas! the journal of my youth has all been subscribed,
And the fresh greenness of my life has become grey winter;
As for the state people call youth.......
I don’t remember how it arrived or when it ended.

HELL BOUND
Lyrics: Omar Khayyam, ( english translation Karim Emami )
Some say the lover and the imbiber are Hell-bound;
A dubious statement that shouldn’t be taken to heart.
If all lovers and imbibers go to Hell,
Then tomorrow Paradis will be an empty ground.
There will be a Paradis with lovely houris, some say,
With much wine and honey flowing around.
Why should it matter if we have chosen wine and woman?
For this is how it is going to be at the end anyhow.
I know the outward facts of life and death;
And i know the truth behind every rise and fall.
Yet i should be ashamed of all my knowledge
If i know any state beyond inebriation.
Today you are barred from tomorrow,
And tomorrow’s care is a futile thought.
Don’t spoil this moment’s fun if you are still young at heart For who knows how long your remaining days will last.

THE OXUS
Lyrics: Omar Khayyam, ( english translation Karim Emami )
Medi:
If my arrival were up to me, i wouldn’t have come;
If my departure were also up to me, would i ever leave?
But would it not have been better altogether,
If i had not come into this ruined abode to rest and then depart?
The Oxus is a symbol of our strained tears;
Hell is but a spark from our futile suffering,
And the Paradise is only a moment of our repose.
If my arrival were up to me, i wouldn’t have come;
If my departure were also up to me, would i ever leave?
But would it not have been better altogether,
If i had not come into If i had not come into rest and then depart?
Nawar:
We go and the satisfied life remains
And our past traces are wiped out
